Woiced ("Woiced", "we", "us") operates a free, neutral public-opinion ledger for citizens of India. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why, and the rights you have over it. We are the Data Fiduciary for the purposes of India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 ("DPDP Act").
Woiced is operated from India and can be reached at hello@woiced.com. For any privacy request or complaint, contact our Grievance Officer at the same address (see Section 10).
We do not collect usernames or display names. There are no public profiles on Woiced.
We process your data on the basis of your consent, which you give when you verify and vote. We use it to: verify eligibility to vote (one verified Indian number, one vote per topic); record and aggregate votes; send you accountability updates on topics you voted on or follow; process voluntary donations; prevent fraud and duplicate voting; and comply with law.
No demographic or ministry breakdown is ever published for a segment with fewer than 50 respondents. This suppression is enforced in our database, not merely hidden in the interface, so small groups can never be singled out.
Verification and notifications are delivered through the WhatsApp Business Platform operated by Meta. When you interact with us on WhatsApp, your use of WhatsApp is also governed by Meta's terms and privacy policy. We share with Meta only what is necessary to deliver these messages.
We do not sell your personal data, and donors receive no access to it and no influence over content. We share limited data only with service providers who process it on our behalf under contract: our hosting and database provider (Supabase), our messaging provider (Meta / WhatsApp), and our payment gateway (e.g. Razorpay or Cashfree) for donations. We may disclose data where required by law.
We keep your data only as long as needed for the purposes above or as required by law. Votes are retained as part of the permanent public record but only ever in aggregate form. You may ask us to delete your account and personal data (see Section 9).
Mobile numbers are encrypted at rest and isolated from public-facing data. Access is restricted, and public reads are served only through aggregate views that cannot expose individual records.
As a Data Principal you have the right to: access a summary of the personal data we hold about you; request correction, completion or updating of it; request erasure of your data; nominate another person to exercise your rights in the event of death or incapacity; and grievance redressal. To exercise any right, email hello@woiced.com. You may withdraw consent at any time, which will end your ability to vote and receive updates.
If you have a complaint about how we handle your data, contact our Grievance Officer at hello@woiced.com. We will acknowledge and respond within the timelines required by law. You also have the right to complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
Voting on Woiced is limited to adults (18 and over) who hold a verified Indian mobile number. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. Where required, we will not process a child's data without verifiable consent of a parent or lawful guardian.
We use only the minimum cookies and local storage needed to keep you signed in and remember your preferences. We do not use advertising trackers.
We may update this policy. Material changes will be posted on this page with a revised "Last updated" date.
